LOCR Producer: Sega did some things really well. Sonic was one, but for the slightly more arcade orientated, action crowd, Shinobi was our beacon.

Revenge of Shinobi is exceptional as far as the Shinobi series is concerned, I think it’s heads above the original Shinobi, doesn’t mean it’s perfect though. I felt stages like the labyrinth really slowed down the whole game. I can see they may have been trying to get away from a solid action platformer experience, but it was boring and confusing.

Also, even though there are some really stand out bosses, some of my favourite ever, there are some really luckluster bosses as well, like the supercomputer or the brain with lasers. I feel they were good ideas, but could have been done so much better, especially considering the quality of bosses like Godzilla, the Super Samurai and the infamous spiderman ‘shapeshifter’.

I can totally agree that this is one game both Bruiser and myself were really excited to produce a review for, so excited, we feel we rushed the production, much like the Shadowdancer review. So excuse the quality of the review, but I can guarantee, you won’t be disappointed by this game.
